Valentia Island Marine Habitats

This dataset consists of marine habitat information around Valentia island. The habitats are classified according to the European Nature Information System (EUNIS). The EUNIS habitat classification is a comprehensive pan-European system to facilitate the harmonised description and collection of data across Europe through the use of criteria for habitat identification. It is hierarchical and covers all types of habitat types from natural to artificial, from terrestrial to freshwater and marine. Valentia island is located in Co. Kerry off the south-west coast of Ireland. The data was acquired in 2001 to aid in the designation of Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) around the coast of Ireland. Data gathered by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Data completed for Valentia island survey area.
